Joe's Recovery

Tuesday July 31,2007
Joe had another check up in NYC. the doctor's are very pleased with his progress. His lung biopsy came back showing no signs of rejection. He continues to feel stronger everyday and participates in activities he hasn't been able to do in a long time. He is smiling alot more too....hahaha. He said it felt good to see all his friends and family and catch up at the benefit. He is going to the docotrs every three weeks for now because he is making such good progress!

Another check-up down... Joe had his staples removed and pic line taken out. His numbers are still going up. Last week he was finally able to spend a day at the parkway with his nephew, something that he's not been able to do in a very long time. Together they covered 2 miles, I couldn't even do that myself on a good day...LOL!!!! I am so amazed at Joe's will and inspired by his determination. The doctor's are planning on taking the feeding tube out next visit and then he'll be back to "normal" (for lack of a better word). Some days are easier than others for Joe, but he keeps moving on....

Joe just had his first check-up in NY yesterday and they were very pleased with his health. His numbers continue to go up and he's feeling better little by little. He made sure to hit up Angotti's as soon as he got home to satisfy that craving for "real" food. He's gaining weight too so watch out.....lol!!!!! So, that's the latest will keep everyone informed. On behalf of Joe and our family, we can't wait to see everyone in July and personally thank all of you for your support!!!!!

Just want to let everyone know how Joe's doing. He was released from the hospital on Friday June 15. He is making great progress and adjusting well to his new lifestyle. It's amazing to see him taking deep breaths and all without oxygen assistance. Though he does have a long road ahead, he is doing well and in good health. He hopes to be back in Syracuse Wednesday June 20. It's absolutely amazing, double lung transplant and going home three weeks later, a real miracle!!!
